Travel fastpitch-softball is a
highly competitive form of softball. The players from these travel
teams are picked from the best players available from varsity,
junior varsity, middle school teams, little league and club teams
throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties in New York State.
The Long Island Bandit players are
enormously dedicated. The girls are ages 8 to 23 years. The teams
play and practice all year round. The players receive specialized
training on a regular basis from professional college coaches and
players.
There is a dedicated and experienced
coaching staff working with the girls. The coaches continually keep
up with current coaching theories through clinics, videos, books and
the internet.
Community service is encouraged and the
Bandits have participated in various charity events as well as making
appearances at assisted living facilities.
The teams
play in many tournaments and leagues. To play these games the
team travels throughout Long Island as well as out of state.
Most of these events are sanctioned by National Governing
bodies including PONY, PAL, ASA, NSA, ISA and FAST-PITCH.
This year the teams will play in local
Long Island events, Regional out-of-state tournaments and National
tournaments. During these tournaments the girls are exposed to teams
from throughout the country.
The Bandits organization has been around for well over 15 years. In
2001 one of our older teams won a National Title and in 2005 our 14
and under team came in second at the FAST-PITCH Nationals.
The Bandits
philosophy is based on three concepts: commitment, practice and
development. The combination of these ingredients makes a winning
team. We look for girls and parents who are team players. We work to
develop our players and try to get them to perform to the best of
their ability. We believe that perfect practice makes perfect play.
The Bandits promote a winning attitude.
Although, winning is not our only priority, making our players better
remains a primary focus. When we achieve this goal winning
will follow.
